LWF Position Description
Position:               Accountant
Organisation:        Laikipia Wildlife Forum (LWF)
Duty Station:       Nanyuki
Supervisor:           Head of Finance and Administration

Role: To provide financial management assistance to the organization and ensure that daily accounts are operated and maintained in accordance with accounting best practices and the Kenyan Law.

1.    Administer, control, and disburse funds within the approved budgetary allocation in accordance with established regulations and procedures;
2.    Make payments both by cheque and online once every week and ensure they are fully signed.
3.    Manage and reconcile bank/cash accounts, including the preparation of monthly financial accounts for submission, ensuring financial, resource accountability and effective management of records.
4.    Prepare cheques for the following payments and ensure submission to the respective bodies in a timely fashion:
•    P.A.Y.E –Returns submitted online to Kenya Revenue Authority on a monthly basis;
•    N.H.I.F –  Payable to National Hospital Insurance Fund.
•    N.S.S.F –   Payable to National Social Security Fund.
•    Pension Scheme  payments for LWF personnel.
5.    Maintain and manage With Holding Tax (WHT)
•    Maintain WHT Spreadsheet which is in existence.
6.    Maintain Petty cash and ensure replenishment in accordance with office policy.
7.    Participate in the implementation and development of the Organization's work plans and budgets.
8.    Assist in the management and maintenance of the Organization’s Membership system.
9.    Assist in the organization’s operations and management of its procurement system
Perform other related duties, as assigned.


1.    Relevant accounting degree from a reputable institution.
2.    CPA part II certificate.
3.    3-5 years of experience in accounting for non-profits organizations or similar
4.    Demonstrated ability to manage and manipulate spread sheets competently
5.    Prior knowledge of procurement systems
6.    Excellent communication skills
7.    Strong team player
8.    Interest and/or commitment to Laikipia and its role in conservation and sustainable natural resources management.




LWF Position Description
Position:           Office Assistant/Receptionist
Organisation:    Laikipia Wildlife Forum (LWF)
Duty Station:   Nanyuki
Supervisor:       LWF Office Manager

Role: Supports the smooth administration of office systems necessary to the operations of a Laikipia-based membership organization dedicated to sustainable land use and wildlife conservation.

1. Assist in the filling, photocopying and management of office files related to all aspects of the Forum’s administrative systems

2. Serve as a receptionist to the organization, meeting and greeting visitors to the office in a professional and helpful manner

3. Answer the office phone, directing enquiries in a professional manner;

4. Respond to standard email enquiries by mail and email.

5. Assist in the disbursement of payments to vendors

6. Specifically assist the Executive Director with basic administrative tasks;

7. Support office manager to conduct physical count and verification of office assets

Perform other related duties as assigned

•    Diploma in Business administration or a related field.
•    Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and Email
•    Excellent communication skills, with strong English and Kiswahili skills preferred
•    At least 1 year prior experience in office systems and administration
•    Strong team player with an outgoing personality and demonstrated ability to represent the Forum’s front office effectively
