Tiemamut group ranch, a member of Naibunga conservancy has 3,500 acres of its 8000 acre ranch dedicated to conservation, which is under management through the Kijabe Trust. The Maasai of this area are partoralists and with support from Laikipia Wildlife Forum and African Wildlife Foundation are working to improve their rangeland using simple techniques for better pasture. Rehabilitation demonstration sites in Tiemamut have become a learning tool for members of neighboring group ranches.

Camping: On the edge of a wide sandy river bed, which floods for a few days throughout the year, is an enormous acacia tree – an ideal shady location to relax in the heat of the day. Around is plenty of space to set up tents.

Adventure: Tiemamut is an adventures paradise – with wide open spaces of arid landscape ideal for challenging walks and hikes. Due to the danger of wild animals, visitors must be accompanied by a local guide.

Facilities / Services: Firewood, day-time rangers & night watchman, Safaricom network in places. Nearest collection point for water is Kimanjo town and limited water can be collected by digging shallow wells in the sandy river bed.

Access / Directions: Approximately 70 kms (2½ hours) from Nanyuki town, & 4-wheel drive vehicle required. See Il Polei Conservancy for directions to Il Polei barrier. After Il Polei town take the next left turn, and keep on main road, after 17kms there is a junction and bear left, go through Kimanjo town (2kms) and bear right where road splits in town. After another 4kms turn right (hair pin turning) and then turn immediately left, pass a dam and school (2km), cross a sandy lugga (1km) and reach site (1km).
