Introduction: Camel assisted walking safaris based at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and operating northward in all northern community conservation areas following old elephant migration routes to the Mathews Range, Ndoto hills, Mt. Marsabit, Mt Nyiru and Mt. Kulal. We go where elephants go and offer an adventure and experience of a lifetime.

Location: From Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, with its abundant wildlife and spectacular scenery, to Il N'gwesi and Lekkuruki conservation areas, with their increasing wildlife numbers and elephant populations. Explore the spectacular forested and true wilderness of the Namunyak conservation area in the Mathews range - a refuge for elephants, and eastward to the ancient wells of the Sera Conservation area. For the hardy and adventurous - starting from the Kalacha wells on the edge of the Chalbi Desert, south to the mountains of Kulal and Nyiru, and Lake Turkana.

Description: NFV offers unique tailor made safaris for the adventurous spirit, and can be 4 -14 days. The maximum number of people per trip is 8 and each safari is exclusive to the group. Most travelling is done in the mornings, allowing a rest over lunch, during the heat of the day, before going on an evening game walk or sun-downer. A hot shower, an evening around the camp fire, and a night under the stars completes the day. Beginnings and/or endings of safaris can be arranged in some of the best eco and community owned lodges in Kenya, including Il N'gwesi, Tassia, Sarara Camp and Kalacha as well as the privately owned Kitich Tented Camp and Desert Rose. Camels are available to ride when terrain allows. A moderate level of fitness is required as well as a sense of adventure and some resilience.

Accommodation/Facilities: Light weight tented camps are set up in picturesque locations, usually near water, providing comfortable and spacious tents, hot showers and tented loos. Good wines and a healthy cuisine cooked over an open fire are served under the African sky.

Hosted by: Guests are hosted and guided by Charlie Wheeler, a professional guide born and brought up in the Kenyan bush. The friendly and experienced crew is made up of a mixture of the Northern pastoral peoples from the Samburu, Rendille and Mokogodo Masaai tribes.

Seasons: Closed only during the rain months of the year in April and November.

Access: By schedule flight or vehicle to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy or by private charter through Tropic Air to various conservation areas in the North.
