SOSIAN, LAIKIPIA

Location: Sosian is 24,000 acres of wild bush in the vast Laikipia plateau; it supports a wide diversity of wildlife and birds, and is home to four of the ‘Big Five’, as well as a host of other large mammals, including cheetah and the rare wild dog.

Description: Unrestricted by rules found in parks and reserves, Sosian offers exciting ways to enjoy your bush experience. Go on a game drive, day or night, and look for the over 70 mammal species that live here, including elephant and lion. Take a walk in the bush and scan for some of the 300 plus bird species recorded on Sosian. Ride a horse across the open plains among herds of zebra, gazelle and giraffe. You can do all this and much more.

Accommodation & Facilities: Enjoy the comfort and exclusivity of the beautifully renovated 1940s-era ranch house with its elegant furnishings. Sosian has four cottages with seven double rooms. You will appreciate the friendly people of Sosian whose goal is to make you feel part of our family.

1. Day and night game drives – Elephant always in abundance and rare species such as Grevy’s Zebra and Jackson’s Hartebeest always present.

5. Picnics and sundowners by the waterfall or hippo pool.
6. Farm tours and participation in livestock husbandry.

Closed Season: Open all year round

Access: By Air Kenya to Nanyuki, followed by road transfer, or by road from Nairobi (4½ hours), or by charter flight to the Sosian airstrip.
