Location: At the foot of Warges Mountain with sweeping views of the Mathews range, in Samburu country, lies Sarara Camp, in the 185,000 acre Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust. Owned by the Trust, and jointly managed, Sarara is a venture dedicated to both wildlife conservation and community development.
Description: Sarara Camp is a luxury tented camp, built from local materials. It overlooks a waterhole which attracts a variety of game and flocks of birds. Namunyak, means ‘the place of peace’ in Samburu, and this atmosphere is certainly reflected at Sarara Camp.
Accommodation & Facilities: Sarara Camp has five spacious, carefully appointed double tents, with open-air showers and private verandas. The lounge and dining area has a huge thatched roof and a wooden deck overlooking the natural rock swimming pool.
Hosted: Sarara is managed and hosted by Piers and Hilary Bastard, of Acacia Trails. Members for the Samburu community help look after guests at Sarara, and not only are they perfect hosts, but excellent guides in the bush.

Closed Season: April, May and November.
Access: Private charter to the Namunyak airstrip, by Airkenya to Samburu, followed by road transfer, or by 4 wheel drive vehicle.
