LOISABA WILDERNESS

Location: Situated 70 kms north of Mount Kenya, on the edge of the Laikipia plateau, Loisaba Wilderness is located within a 60,000 acre private wildlife conservancy and working cattle ranch.

Description: Loisaba offers the rare excitement, adventure and privacy of a newly discovered African wilderness. Perched a few hundred feet above a waterhole, frequented by a constant stream of wildlife, Loisaba is constructed from stone, local timber and thatch.

Accommodation/Facilities: Seven rooms provide accommodation for 14 people; each room has an en-suite bathroom and French windows that open onto a private deck. All furniture at Loisaba is hand made on the ranch. The lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, bocce court and croquet lawn. In addition to the lodge accommodation, Loisaba has: Kiboko Star Beds, situated amongst a kopje of rocks overlooking a waterhole, which can accommodate three couples; a self contained private luxury house with two bedrooms and a cliff-top swimming pool; and a private exclusive cottage accommodating 2 couples.

Hosted By: Guests are hosted by Chris and Rachel Davis who have over 30 years of experience in camp and lodge management. The Star Beds are hosted by Samburu warriors, and the cottage has a separate team of staff. Loisaba is managed by Tom Silvester, who was born in Kenya and has worked on Loisaba for over 12 years.

Closed Season: Mid April to end of May

Access: With Tropic Air’s daily schedule flight from Nanyuki, or with Air Kenya / Safari Link daily scheduled from Wilson (Nairobi) to Nanyuki, followed by private charter flight direct to the Loisaba airstrip, or by road from Nanyuki.
