KITICH CAMP, MATHEWS RANGE

Location: Kitich camp is located in the remote Mathews mountain range, north of Samburu, facing the Ngeng River and surrounded by green wooded hills and craggy peaks. The Samburu and Soyei people of this area used to gather in the valley of the Ngeng for feasting, singing and dancing. Here they were always assured of water and grazing for their cattle and honey for beer making – they called the area “Kitich – the place of happiness”

Description: The unique tented camp is nestled in a verdant grove of fig trees, indigenous flowering shrubs and prehistoric cycad palms. Kitich evokes the true atmosphere of early century safaris, with its hurricane lamps and attentive service.

Accommodation & Facilities: The camp has four luxurious tents, each for two people, with large comfortable beds and en-suite bathroom with canvas safari-style hot water showers. The separate open-plan cottage houses a bar, dining and sitting room with a fireplace.
