Location: Situated on Ol Maisor a working family ranch, north of Rumuruti, Bobong Campsite is located on a small escarpment over looking the Ewaso Narok Swamps, the Laikipia plains, Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range.
Description: Bobong is
a self-help campsite. Its location attracts a great variety of
bird life. Not only are the plains and rocky species abundant,
but Ol Maisor Ranch has many water and some forest birds too.
In 2003, Bobong rated 3rd in Kenya’s World Birdwatch count.
Bobong is an ideal destination and starting point for camel safaris,
as well as educational and adventure holidays for groups, families
and individuals. Activities are arranged according to guest’s
interests and budget.
Accommodation & Facilities: Other
than plenty of space to camp, Bobong has one self contained banda,
one plain banda and two open sided bandas. There are simple communal
bathroom facilities, including hot showers, and two barbeques
for guests to use. The campsite also has a small pool and a ‘jungle-gym’.
Hosted By: John and Amanda Perrett live and work on the ranch. They have four children and numerous pets. A team of staff are on hand to help look after guests at the Campsite. Experienced guides are available to accompany guests on nature walks.
Facilities: Air strip, bandas, obstacle course, mountain bikes. Activities: Game and birds, fishing, farming activities, camel riding and cultural trips. |

Closed Season: Bobong Campsite is open all year round.
Access: 20 kms by road from Rumuruti, or via Nyahururu or Nanyuki. The Ranch does have an airfield should guests wish to fly in.
