IL POLEI CAMPSITE

Location: Il Polei is situated on a 5,600 acre community wildlife conservancy, close to the small town of Dol Dol, on the northern slopes of the Lolldaiga hills, 40 km north of Nanyuki and the equator.

Description: A community owned and run ranch, where members have set aside 5,600 acres for wildlife conservation. The ranch provides picturesque views over the Laikipia plains and onto the peaks of Mount Kenya. The ranch is home to buffalo, elephant, gerenuk, lion and baboon, plus abundant bird life. Il Polei Campsite is ideal for weekend campers and adventurers, backpackers and overland truckers.

Accommodation and Facilities: Il Polei Campsite has several campsites within the wildlife conservancy. Some are positioned near a seasonal river bed and others next to rocky hills, with viewpoints. All campsites have shade, and water is supplied if natural sources are not present.

Hosted by: Members of the Il Polei Wildlife Conservancy run the campsite and host guests during their stay.

Closed Season: Open all year round.

Access: Il Polei is 250 kms from Nairobi, via Nanyuki.
